Thesis: Photochromic Heteroaryl Azoswitches for Neurological TRPA1 Optical Modulation
Abstract: Development of visible-light photoswitchable ligands targeting TRPA1 for precise spatiotemporal control of ion channel activity.
"My name is Grégory. I hold a Master’s degree in Organic Synthesis from Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) and I am currently pursuing a PhD in organic chemistry and neurobiology. I was drawn to this project by my passion for organic chemistry, the innovative potential of photopharmacology, and the opportunity to work at the interface of chemistry and biology.
My research focuses on developing visible-light photoswitchable ligands targeting the TRPA1 ion channel, aiming to provide precise spatiotemporal control of ion channel activity and pave the way for new therapeutic strategies targeting TRP channels.
This project, funded by EUR CBS, enables collaboration between the DPM and GIN laboratories, allowing me to carry out the synthesis and photophysical characterization of compounds, as well as biological testing. After my PhD, I plan to build a career in medicinal chemistry research at the interface of organic chemistry and biology, focusing on innovative molecular tools."
