Thesis: BinucleaR Iridium(III) complexes for hiGH photodynamic Therapy EfficieNcy (BRIGHTEN)
Abstract: Synthesis of Ir(III) complexes and their efficiency evaluation against HeLa and A549 cancer cells
"I’m from Hungary originally, I took an interest in chemistry during high school, mainly because of its complexity and that this subject deals with the building blocks of our environment. I completed my bachelor’s and master’s degree at Northumbria University at Newcastle, England. My master’s thesis project was about improving red colour emission in OLED devices using Iridium(III) complexes. Similarly, here at UGA I’m also doing Ir(III) complex synthesis, but for photodynamic therapy and age-related macular degeneration research. I will be testing their efficiency against HeLa and A549 cancer cells at the IAB. I wish to improve my knowledge in organic synthesis, and to learn new techniques in biology."
