ED CSV Annual Scientific Day

"The annual Scientific Day of the École Doctorale Chimie et Sciences du Vivant (EDCSV) took place on June 17th, 2026, gathering approximately 180 participants. The audience included PhD candidates, Master’s students (M1 and M2) from Biology, Chemistry, Health Engineering, and Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution programs, as well as alumni, research staff, supervisors, and members of the broader Grenoble scientific community.

Throughout the day, second-year PhD students were invited to showcase their work through oral presentations or poster sessions. Ten students delivered 10-minute talks followed by 5 minutes of discussion. The remaining second-year PhD candidates presented their research during three dedicated 45-minute poster sessions (80 posters presented). These sessions fostered lively scientific exchanges and encouraged networking among participants. Evaluation panels composed of researchers and field experts assessed both oral and poster presentations.

Three EDCSV alumni were also invited to share their academic journeys and professional careers following their PhD. Their testimonies provided current PhD and Master’s students with valuable insights into the variety of career paths available after completing a doctorate within EDCSV.

Participants were also invited to engage in discussion during Q&A sessions held after the presentations, further enriching the scientific interactions of the day.
Unfortunately, one of the highlights of the day, a plenary lecture by Prof. Dr. Valérie Pichon, who had travelled from Paris to present her work entitled “More sustainable sample preparation and analytical methods for the analysis of complex samples”, had to be cancelled due to her absence for personal reasons.

The day also included the celebration of the HDR qualification, as well as the announcement of the new EDCSV grant awardees.
All invited speakers and Master’s students were welcomed thanks to financial support from a CBH graduate school grant. This funding also enabled the provision of a catered lunch, which was held outdoors under sunny weather conditions and was particularly appreciated by participants.

Prizes for best presentations were awarded based on jury evaluation (1 oral presentation and 3 posters), as well as one additional poster prize voted on by all participants.

Overall, the event was highly successful and received very positive feedback. It provided a stimulating environment where early-stage researchers and senior scientists were able to exchange ideas in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere. The EDCSV Scientific Day once again highlighted the quality and diversity of research conducted within the doctoral school and contributed to its visibility within the Grenoble scientific community."
